Luxury Jeans Guide: What's Your Fit?

If one thing is for certain in fashion, it’s that denim never goes out of style. But with so many styles, cuts and colours to choose from, the choice can be overwhelming, let alone knowing what to wear with them.

Although we’re often told that certain body types suit certain jeans, in truth there is no one style for each body shape. The right pair of jeans should make you feel powerful, confident, and comfortable - the kind of denim you can wear to work during the day, then dance the night away in.

If only there was a complete jeans fit guide for women… You’re in luck. To help you on the quest to find the best denim for your figure, our LK Bennett luxury jeans guide explores the many types of jean styles for women. Read on to learn how to find your perfect fit and elevate your everyday style to a whole new level.

Decoding denim styles and designs

When you find your dream pair of jeans, you just know. You’ll feel confident as soon as you put them on and feel like you never want to take them off. To find the perfect pair, however, you’ll probably have to try out a range of different types of jean fits.

LK Bennett has a wide variety ofluxurious denim styles and designs to choose from that elevate and accentuate your figure, making you feel your best. Here are some of our favourites:

Cropped

Cropped jeans look fab on all shapes and heights, but work particularly well on petite figures, creating the clever illusion of longer legs. Opt for a straight cut that hits just above the ankle, or a flared cut to keep things interesting. Cropped white jeans look super chic and can be worn with stylish slingback heels or boots, while a distressed pair look effortlessly cool worn with trainers.

Our Fara cropped jeans are made from the softest organic cotton-blend denim and feature a vegan faux leather patch, LK Bennett motif embroidery, and side and back pockets. A beautiful mid-indigo, these jeans look amazing paired with a cosy knit or a feminine blouse.

Flared

This 70s favourite has come back into style recently, in a big way. Flared jeans are a great choice for hourglass and pear-shaped bodies and balance out larger hips. Petite body types can also wear a longer flare with a pair of heels to elongate the legs. Not ready to try the flare? A subtler bootcut style will be right up your street.

Straight leg

Straight-leg jeans are always going to be a winner and complement all shapes and sizes, from apples to athletic types. If you’ve never got on with skinny jeans, straight-leg jeans will be your new best friend. You can really get creative when it comes to styling straight-leg jeans. Throw on a camisole and sandals while sunning yourself on holiday, or combine with patent ballet flats, a crisp white tee and an oversized blazer for the office.

Wide-leg

Wide-leg jeans are like wearing a favourite pair of pyjamas: baggy, comfy and made for wearing around the house on the weekend. They also suit all body types. However, you can easily dress this denim style up with a crop top or blouse and a pair of square-toe heels.

We love our playful Ami wide-leg jeans, made from organic cotton denim in a soft indigo colour. These jeans go with anything and everything, from T-shirts to knitwear.

Boyfriend and Mom jeans

Boyfriend jeans are a baggy style of jeans with a loose fit. They particularly suit apples and athletic shapes. Pair with a sweatshirt and trainers for an everyday relaxed fit - or a camisole top and stiletto heels for an evening of bar hopping. We also love wearing slouchy boyfriend jeans with a bright and colourful knit, like our beautiful Penelope cardigan.

Mom jeans are similar to boyfriend jeans but are slightly more fitted. This popular 80s and 90s style is typically high-waisted and has looser legs with a tapered ankle. Mom jeans look super flattering on all body types and are especially good at adding the illusion of curves. They are also versatile enough to go with so many outfits.

Low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise

No denim fit guide would be complete without comparing low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise jeans. Low-rise fits are a great option for athletic types, but they are also denim heroes when it comes to showing off curves. Mid-rise jeans are an all-round winner and work with most styles of top, making them a firm wardrobe staple. Finally, high-rise jeans cinch in the waist to give an hourglass illusion and look their most stylish with a crop top and chunky trainers.

Finding your perfect fit

We wish there was a jeans fit guide that could match us with our ideal jeans in seconds. But part of the fun of finding your perfect fit is trying lots of styles and making your own unique jeans guide.

Finding the shape or style of jeans that makes your figure look flawless can be difficult, especially when shopping online. Jeans length guides and measurements are confusing when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. We advise getting a list of all your measurements before you start shopping to make sure you’re fully equipped. Measure your waist, hips and inseam (inside leg) and compare it with the online size chart to find your best fit.

If you’re hitting the shops in person, take a spare pair of shoes to try on with a selection of jeans styles - a top tip for savvy styling.

How to elevate your everyday denim style

Because jeans are such a versatile item of clothing, accessorising and elevating them couldn’t be easier.

Different jeans styles go with different types of tops. Tuck a baggy tee into a ripped pair of mom jeans and match with pumps, or exude chic by pairing a black polo neck with dark wash straight-leg jeans and black leather loafers.

We all know ‘jeans and a nice top’ is, and will always be, one of our go-to combos. But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring! Make dark jeans instantly more exciting with a glamorous buckled belt and pair with heeled boots. When in doubt, lashings of gold jewellery will finish off any look.

Add the pièce de résistance to any denim-based look with a statement handbag. We are in love with this eye-catching Mini Harbour gold tote, which would really pop when worn with dark denim. For larger handbags, our Jamie leather tote looks sensational worn with simple straight-leg jeans, a plain white tee and a tailored blazer.

We hope you found inspiration in our luxury jeans guide for women. The journey to find the perfect jeans is all part of the experience. Have fun experimenting with lots of shapes and patterns - try textures and styles you never thought were possible and mix and match colours until you find The Pair.
Good luck!
