What to wear to the races and all the other occasions and events in our diaries (at long last), is an exciting outfit we’ve been waiting to plan for months. Whatever you decide to wear, it’s all about dressing up, having fun and making memories, and we think the dress has to be the star of the show. The best race day dresses should feel good to wear all day and look spectacular, whether you’re hob-nobbing in the Royal Enclosure or cheering on your favourite filly trackside.
Here, @jenniferlake shows us what she’ll be wearing and how she’s styled three beautiful dresses from our Royal Ascot x L.K.Bennett collection.
Race day dresses aren’t renowned for their easy-going, effortless look and feel, but that’s where our Hodgkin dress is different. Crafted from cool and comfortable cotton, it’s perfect on warm, sunny days. The white and china blue toile de jouy print takes its inspiration from chintz-inspired interior fabrics, and looks and feels fresh. Wear it with matching accessories; a subtle blue fascinator and clutch, and tie in its black ribbon belt with a classic pair of black courts.
Spots are an L.K.B signature print and will always be our front runner. What we love about this race day look starring our Pierre dress, is the commitment to the print and experimentation of scale, with spots on the dress and the shoes. A chic black fascinator tops off the Parisian look and a simple clutch lets those spots really sing. As race day outfits go, we think it’s spot on.
One of the ultimate ladies day dresses, our Jolene dress takes its inspiration from vintage haute couture and is a real head-turner. Pretty in pink taffeta, we love how Jennifer styled this statement dress with a playful hat worthy of the Royal Enclosure. Our Faye lipstick pink courts offer an additional pop of colour, making this an elegant look with just a hint of extravagance, because, why not?
